Description

Rectangular box w/slant top; box is covered w/dark green leather and trimmed in brown leather and brass; leather strap handle on each end secured by brass fittings, leather band around box where lid and main body join, this band secured by round head brass nails; front latches are brass; slant top of box has a white textured surface trimed along edges by brass; inside box is compartmentalized for "pic-nic" supplies, ie china cups & saucers, enameled sandwich trays, chromed sandwich box and 2 thermoses, condiment containers, metal knives and spoons. This was a traveling case for automobile trips; it is designed to rest on the passenger's side floor and the passenger can put feet on the slant top; Burton Swain was one of the original partners in KCL; donor is his grandson and said that his grandfather probably carried only booze in the 2 thermos containers.
