Framed certificate of graduation from Indiana Eclectic Medical Association for W. T. Shroud, graduating in 1892. He was a physician, surgeon and obstetrician in Waldron. Eclectic medicine was a system emphasizing natural remedies, botanical medicine and treating the whole person. The movement declined after a 1910 report criticized the system. However, their historical records remain valuable for understanding alternative medicine’s history. The frame is an ornate, gilded Rococo style wood.Context
Dr. William T Shrout was born in KY in 1845, resided in Shelby County, Liberty Twp and died in 1914. He obtained his Shelby Co. license to practice medicine on July 23, 1897, but began his practice in Shelby Co. in 1889.Collection
