Scope and Content

An official document recognizing Sferina Cortez Ortiz, Roy Ortiz's mother, as an American citizen. The certificate is sepia toned parchment with a decorative border reminicent of that printed on U.S. currency. The American seal is on the top center of the document. The copy of the document is in cursive, italicized font and the specific details pertaining to Mrs. Ortiz are filled in in a basic print typeface. There is a 2" x 2.5" black and white portrait of Mrs. Ortiz attached to the left side of the document. The photo has been stamped with a seal. the document is signed Eunice J. Green, the Deputy Clerk of La Feria, Texas, as well as V. Bailey Thomas, the U.S. District Clerk.
