Ladder back chair with cane seat; three rungs to the ladder and all are curved to fit back, bottom and middle rung are arched in middle; finish has turned very dark and checked; left back leg terminates in a finial and appears that right back leg originally had finial but it is broken off; there are two stretchers front and sides but the back has only one stretcher.
Had old collection number 34 and records for it read: "Chair---split bottom--was property of Henry Nail father of James Nail and Nancy Francis. James Nail gave a gift of $500.00 to the Shelby Co Historical Society. Presented by Mr. Malpas of Ind'p'ls, Ind."Collection
