Tintype in Union Case; image of small child seated in a chair; child is wearing a cowel neck dress with dark piping; striped of piping go from sleeve edge across the neck and two striped down the front to hemline; there are also two striped of trim around the hem scallopped trim showing at hem line. Appears to be a femail standing behind child (this does not show when matting is in place) childs cheeks and dress are hand tinted light ping; gold oval mat over tintype clear glass and gold foil wrappping frame. Case is Union Case of embossed pattern; front and back alike; pattern has wheat sheaf with sickle in center with gold color on some raised parts; interior wine pressed velour; two hinges on side with interior clasp. Paper tag stating "gift W I Patterson, Est In case behind photograph. "Littlefield, Parson & Co., MANUFACTURERS OF DAGUERREOTYPE CASES/L.P. & Co are the sole Proprietors and only legal manufacturers of UNION CASES, with the Embracing Riveted Hinge.
