Description

An octagon shaped sugar bowl; has a refective glaze; color is a sort of beige and there are slightly darker brown lines sll over surface under the glaze giving bowl a "crackled" look; from base it curves in slightly and then flairs out over base then panels taper in towards the top where it flairs lut again in three stages; there is a gold band on tip rim, one avbout an inch below it and one more about 1 1/4" from bottom; also a vertical gold band on each handle. Bottom is marked with a shield bearing a coat of arms topped by a crown, there is a banner running underneath and behind shield and a lion is on the right and a unicorn on the left of shield and underneath it reads "IRONSOTNE CHINA, EDWARD WALLEY' Had old collection number 24 and records for it read: "Bowl (sugar) was given by Mrs. Helen Hoban more than 100 years old. (7" high with lid.)" May be a misprint and meant to write more than 100 years old in 1930, also lid has been lost.
