China head doll with cloth body; has black wavy hair, parted in the middle, blue eyes, rosy cheeks and red lips; cloth body is printed so that it has black high top shoes and red stockings, and where stockings end are markings simulating lacy pantaloons; doll is dressed in gray floral print dress w/lace at neck, bust, cuffs and hem of dust ruffle; also muslin undergarments and brown leather baby booties. There is a beauty pin on neckline of dress.
Donor's mother was original owner of doll; as child was too poor to afford doll so saved Mother's Oats coupons and got the material with the doll print about 1900, stuffed and sewed the body herself. Put the china head on it in 1903. Mrs. Kiser made the present clothes around 1939. The booties are leather baby booties purchased at the 10 cent store. Beauty pin on dress was sometimes used instead of buttons. The doll's name is Edie.
