Description

Obstetrical forceps in 2 parts (AB); both handles have hard black rubber checked grips; grips are held on with 2 screws; in front of left handle is metal button and shaft; front part of right handle is notched to fit the shaft; front part of each section is wider than the back, curved, with each side having a rectangular opening. Mark: stamped on top of one of the pieces "Shepard &/ Putney NY". History: used in delivery of babies; grasped baby's head and assisted in removing baby from birth canal.
