Description

Heavily padded brown leather baseball glove; child's size; has 4 short stubby fingers and between thumb and first finger a leather patch is laced in place to created a pocket; there is strap that goes across wrist on top side; side of little finger part is stamped in white "Licensed Under U.S./ Patent No. 2231204"; heel of glove is stamped "Spalding/ Made in USA" but is very faint and hard to see. Metal button, left side top of glove stamped in red "Trade/ Spalding/ Mark" also stamped in red are marks like stitching on baseball which appear above and beow "Spalding" In 1950's the Sportsman Club provided community sports equipment for kids living on Union Road; glove probably use by donor's sons Joe, Ed, and Francis. Donor does not know how eventually came into her possession.
