Name/Title
Gun, AirDescription
A toy air gun made of wood and some metal; has sort of a brown or oak colored stain and varnish for a finish. Has brass plated bead and sight on top. On underside of gun 8 13/16" from the muzzle is a hinge with 8 screws securing it to the gun; above hinge and near top of gun is a metal rod which is held in place by tension under a small staple 3 3/4" behind rear sight; when rod is released it allows front portion of the gun to drop; there are two metal rods which are attached to the portion that drops and rest of rod fits into a slot above and in front of trigger. Accession number located on muzzle at hinge; must undo gun to see it. When font part of gun is pulled back under towards stock, the two rods in the slot push back a vertical metal piece which pulls back a piston like contraption in the back part of the gun. Piston is hused in a brass tube and is a piece of wood which just fits in the tube and is secured by a threaded rod and nut. Front part of gun or muzzle has a hole drilled through the wood and a small projectile like a BB or something a little smaller could fit into it. When the trigger is pulled, the piston is released and as it flies forward, it pushes the air in front of it which powers the projectile.Use
