HammerDescription
Solid piece casting. Has flattened round face. Back of face tapers to main body of head. Top of head has a rectangle opening 3/4" x 1/2" for handle. Immediately behind this opening the casting slopes down and ends in a flat surface the width of the head.
Official title is "Cobbler's Hammer" so would imply use for shoe making, but according to Eric Sloane's "A MUSEUM OF EARLY AMERICAN TOOLS" this style hammer was also favored by cabinet makers for drawer work.Collection
