Description

George Jordan was an early Shelby County collector and amatuer archaeologist. Archaic ball bannerstone, one side is tannish gray in color dark gray rings near the smaller end. They circle a light gray patch which has a dark pattern in its center. Other side is generally darker and not as symmetrically shaped. Also has dark gray rings which circle a deeper egg shaped blue-green area. Ball is not quite round, slightly wider at one spot before rounding again. Has a hole 1" deep drilled at one end only. In 2000, Teresa Putty, Paleontologist, dated this artifact as Archaic Period, 8000 BC-6000 BC.
