Description

George Jordan was an early Shelby County collector and amatuer archaeologist. Early archaic winged butterfly bannerstone, shaded with alternating dark and light gray stripes running crosswise. 1" thick at center point, each side tapers down to 1/8" thick. A 1 1/8" hole drilled in one end which is flat. Other end is slightly concave with a mark mid center. Wings are reversed in shape. In 2000, Teresa Putty, Paleontologist, dated this artifact as Archaic Period, 8000 BC-6000 BC.
