Description

George Jordan was an early Shelby County collector and amatuer archaeologist. Archaic grooved axe, black gray in color on one side. Is more convex than reverse side. cutting edge slopes. Stone above the groove slopes down to a curving edge, groove is 1" wide and 1/8" deep. In 2000, Teresa Putty, Paleontologist, dated this artifact as Archaic Period, 8000-6000 BC. 01/20/2018 Identified by Luke Cord as Full Grooved Axe (Archaic Period 8000-6000 BP)
