George Jordan was an early Shelby County collector and amatuer archaeologist. Archaic hammer head, blackish tan in color, grooves are 1/2" wide and slope down to almost 1/2 in depth. Flat on one side, groove is concave and remainder of object is convex. One end is pointed other end tapers to a flat surface. In 2000, Teresa Putty, Paleontologist, dated this artifact as Archaic Period, 8000 BC-6000 BC.
