Description

George Jordan was an early Shelby County collector and amatuer archaeologist. Glacial Kame Humped Gorget, oval shape with flat bottom. Top side is concex sloping upward to a pointed cone. Blackish gray with lighter gray narrow stripes circling the top side. Bottom is flat, blackish gray with lighter gray stripes running lenghtwise. Piece is smooth, 1/2" wid3 & 1/2" deep drilled hole at the end. In 2000, Teresa Putty, Paleontologist, dated this artifact as Woodland Period, 1000 BC-AD 800. 01/20/2018 Identified by Luke Cord as Spiked Back or 'Humpback' Gorget (Woodland Period 1000-800 BP
