Description

George Jordan was an early Shelby County collector and amatuer archaeologist. Archaic pick bannerstone, has rounding edges, hole has been drilled through the middle width -wise. Smooth slate color. Some dark banding in slate appears to be roughly concentric circles around drilled hole. Slight bulge to surface where hole is drilled, ends at bannerstone tube away from bulge. In 2000, Teresa Putty, Paleontologist, dated this arifact as Archaic Period, 8000-6000 BC.
