Description

George Jordan was an early Shelby County collector and amatuer archaeologist. Ovate Glacial Jame Groget is slate colored square shape at one end and slightly tqpered at other. Hole is squareish end is 1" from edge of object. The other one is 1/2" from tapered end. Holes are 2" apart. Has slightly rounded lines 1/8" apart running length of object. Other side has lines which curve in opposite direction. There is small 1/8" circle on this side. Used as jewelry, usually a necklace. In 2000, Teresa Putty, Paleontologist, dated this artifact as Woodland Period, 1000 BC - AD 800. 01/20/2018 Identified by Luke Cord as Adena Quadri-concave Gorget (Woodland Period: 1000-800 BP)
