Wedge shape base of solid cast iron originally the sole would have been polished; flat band of 1/2" at back of base coming to a point 1" hight at front; then tapers to the upper surface of the base. Upper surface has two round hanle attachments at top of base; handle is seaerate casting from base and is twice curved; handle appears to have been molded around iron rod prior to attaching to base; hand grip flattened cylinder with grip lines cast into it on the verytop; appears to be a casting flaw in base at back.
