A: Military uniform jacket. Khaki with gold navy buttons. Jacket has self-belt front and back, three buttons, two front pockets with buttonholes in center and two snaps. Stitched, notched lapels. ID numbers inside of back. The back unlined, two pockets inside. Loops on shoulders for shoulder boards. Coat has split tails. Label sewn to inside pocket reads "A/Franklin/Uniform/84 Fifth Ave. New York." Ralph Douglass, Jr. was a Shelbyville, Indiana native. He attended Merchant Marine program in Kingsport, New York about 1943. After graduation he held reserve commission in the U. S. Navy and then volunteered as a deck officer and navigator. Donated items are associated with his career in the Navy and/or Merchant Marine.Use
