Oval tintype; subject is female; hair close to head wieth a widows peak at front; appers to be brided across the top or head covering of some type; small white collar with pin at nectk; dark dess ending in loose sleeves; high waisted with buckle or pin at waist front; net mitts on hands;(negative image is reversed) ring on right hand in photo would have been left hand of lady; ring and pin are hand tinted with gold; cheeks are hand tinted in pink; right hand resting on a book; oval glass over tintype; oval wrapping around gold froma; case is oval Union type case; embossed front and back with two human figures; one standing with a pennant; case is brown; interior dark red pressed velour; hinge and clasp are in good condition. According to old records, picture is of Mary Piatt Jenkins, wife of Luther Jenkins, according to family the picture was talem om 1850.
