Handle end is oval shaped open loop 2 1/2" wide; ;where handle attaches to shaft the metal has square edfes (more or Less); shaft is cylindrical with a 5/8" long split on the end; belw the split is a piece of metal that hange down and then curves around on its end; this part what caught and undid or did lick mechanis. Total size is 7 1/4" long. History: blue tag tied to key read "Shelby Co./Historical/Societh" on one side, other side had "@^"; also found with it was typed index card reading "Key to the old Court House, used by a former/Judge of Shelby County, Mr. Alonzo Blair. Given to the Shelby County Historical Society by Mrs. O.W. Cotton. June, 1940" Found In Collection
