Blade is set into a dark wood handle made from 2 pieces of wood riveted together thru the tang; handle curves down and forms a small notch at the butt end; has small oval shaped hilt; brown leather case has slit for wearing on a standard belt as opposed to typical military style of hooks and rings on a web belt; two pieces of leather at top snap together to secure knife in the sheath; there is a second blade in the sheath but this blade has a broken tang.
One side of blade is marked "Royal Brand/Sharp Cutter/Cuttlery Company" lettering is inside an 8 sided figure and appears to be a 4-leaf clover above and below words "Sharp Cutter"
Used by Ens. Delbert Larue Martin D. 1945
Martin was Shelby County native from Moral Twp;entered Navy 1/15/43; awarded Distinguished Flying Cross for meritorious Service on 2/16/45; participated in Navy's first attack on Tokyo Bay and was lost in action in the Caroline Island 3/21/1945 flying from the carrier USS Randolph.
