Sugar bowl has 2-1/4" diameter top and bottom but bulges out and is widest in middle: decorated with china painting, lid has gold band around edge and brown line inside band and handle done in gold.; bowl's open work handles in gold has gold band and brown line around rim and base; widest part of bowl has white band bordered in brown lines and decorated with sections of 2 horizontal gold lines w/ends turned to each other and brown ellipsoidal figure between, alternating with brown vertical rectangles
bottom marked with a green stencil of a line with "J.P." over it and "L" under and 'FRANCE" under the letters, a "20" was scratched in clay before firing." J.P.L. / France.

According to the donors, this tea set given to donors by their aunt, Mrs. Charles Spiegel. Set was hand painted to match by Etta Wingate. Underside is signed with brown ink: Etta Wingate. Etta and her twin sister Eva were maiden ladies living in Shelbyville. Miss Eva taught school and Etta kept house and did china painting.Collection
