Black and white photo of man with dark eyes; wearing pilot's leather helmet with goggles pushed up on forehead, chin strap to helmet is not fastened; other clothing detals opaqued out but appears to have wool collar of flight jacket and some sort of white scarf; surface of print has criss-cross pattern like a screen print and the edges are trimmed to have a scalloped surface. Used by Ens. Delbert Larue Martin, d. 1945. Martin was Shelby County native from Moral Twp; entered Navy 1/15/1943; awarded Distinquished Flying Cross for Meritorious Service on 2/16/1945; particiipated in Navy's first attack on Tokyo Bay and was lost in action in the Caroline Islands 3/21/1945 flying from the carrier, USS Randolph See also 1985.019.004
