2 sets of rank insignia worn on shoulder of Navy uniform; both covered with a black wool felt cloth; underside covered with black cloth and has leather straps for securing to shoulder loops on shirt or uniform; pointed end of each hass gold colored button with raised Navy insignia; one set consists of 2 broad braids and 5 pointed gold star for Lieutenant, senior grade; other set consists of 2 broad braids with narrow braid between and 5 pointed gold star for Lt. Commander.
One set had black and gold embroidered label witha Viking longboat and "Hillburn-Hamburger Inc./ New York --- Mfgrs". Other set has gold color stamped with a wreath and word "Gemsco"
