This derby was the trademark of the beloved physician. Among his patients were Rose and Gus Ellerman and their grandchildren Richard and Marllyn Ray. During his office visits, Richard would admire Dr. Sam's hat and say that when he grew up he would like to have a hat like Dr. Sam's. After his death, Mrs. Ellerman was informed that Dr. Sam meant the hat to be given to Richard who kept it until its donation to the Grover Center.Collection
