Name/Title

Military uniform

Description

Olive drab wool WWII Marine jacket and pants. A. The jacket has 4 eagle buttons down the front, a button each on the 4 pocket flaps, and a button each on the 2 epaulets. Over the right breast pocket is the “Ruptured Duck” patch which was given when the service member was honorably discharged. The patch depicts an eagle within a ring composed of a chief and 13 vertical stripes. Many thought it looked like a duck, hence the name. On right shoulder is the chevron denoting sergeant and the left upper sleeve has one also. Lower on the right and left sleeves is a diagonal patch outlined in red. No information can be found on the significance of this. On left shoulder is a diamond shaped parch with Guadalcanal printed in white letters lengthwise. This signifies the 1st Marine Division. B. The pants have a 5 button fly.
