Image is of a group of youngsters and one adult women arranged in 2 rows; front row has 9 of the smallest children and back row has nine children and the adult female; background is frame building with peak roof; structure is covered with clapboard; has 4 double hung sash windows visible and each window has a set of shutters; brick chimney located about the middle of the roof line; part of an out building is visible to the left; trees are bare of foliage. According to donor, "the school stood on the North side of Rd 400 just west of Columbus Pike. (It) was recently demolished to make way for Fenns Church parsonage. The teacher was Emma Belle Oneal and she married John T. Murphy. The picture was made in 1877. Note: John T. and Emma were donor's parents. See donor's collection. Donation, 11/13/1983.
