B&W negative image; image is young boy; he is wearing bib overall and a striped, collarless shirt; he is barefoot; he is posed beside a small tree growing in a tub; there is a pole running diagonally across the image and inserted between branches of tree; boy has his right leg draped over the pole at the knee; vertical siding like on farm outbuildings is visible in background as is laundry on a clothes line hung out to dry.
Series of glass plate negatives were found in an old house the donor's bought; plates were in 2 boxes from the M. A. Seed dry plat company; one box had a note attached reading Dr. Gus Billman Estate, died 1954.
