Black and white photographic print. Bust view of a male with his head slightly turned square with lens. Subject has white hair, parted on right, cut close above ears, wearing rimless spectacles, suit coat has wide lapels with buttonhole in each lapel and pinstriping, white shirt, long tie has a diamond like pattern. Back of photo in inscribed: "Vernon Cole Patten, M.D./12-8-1870-1959 (Easter Sunday)/(in hospital Christmas Eve;/d. Easter Sunday, 8:00 a.m.)/Born 1 1/2 mi. N. Morristown,/Hanover Twp. Indiana." Used by Dr. Vernon Cole Patten (1870-1959).
Dr. Patten was native of Morristown, attended Kansas City Medical College 1894-1895 and I.U. Medical Center 1895-1897. From 1897-1901 he practiced medicine in Chicago and did post-graduate work there. By 1906 he was in partnership with Dr. Pierson in Morristown. Patten's medical practice in Morristown exceeded 50 yrs. Print appears to be a copy of another print.
