Five shot firearm with a muzzle that has been shortened to 5". Caliber is unknown-possible a .38. Gun has a bullet mold and 3-powder flask. Donor stated that the pistol was found in the belongings of his grandmother Yates of Peebles, Ohio. Serial number on the pistol is 27,278. Made by Manhattan Firearms Co., Newark. Model: Navy Revolver, Series III Caliber: .36 Caliber Barrel Length(s): 4"(shown), 4.5" (rare), 5", and 6 1/2" Serial Number Range: approx. 14,500 to 45,200 Features: 5-shot; 1859 patent date on cylinder; 1 line barrel address: "MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS CO. NEWARK N.J." Manufacturing date: September 1861 to April 1864
