White ironstone; overall square shape; square pedestal base; main body flares out over base and is wider; 4 corners of edges are flattened to make panels; decorative edge around 3 sides of top; 3 top edges has slight scallop; attached handle with long narrow grip; mold lines; decorative bands at top of base; 2 decorative bands on side of handle. Marks: Bottom has green transfer; mark consists of British stamp of lion and unicorn on each side of a crowned shield; above the mark is "IRONSTONE CHINA", below mark is "J. & G. MEAKIN, HANLEY, ENGLAND". History: used by parents of donor after they set up housekeeping in 1893.Use
