Description

Cylindrical pitcher wider at the base tapering to a flare at the top; attached handle and spout with a hinged lid topped by a finial; base and near top have beaded bands; front of pitcher is engraved in old English script; "In Memory/of/ Edward Toner/and/Susan Toner/1848. Marks: An anchor encircled by words "Homan Mfg. Company". Hammer and a crucible with an "H" stamped in crucible. Bottom also stamped "WARRENTED/ QUADRUPLE PLATE/ MADE IN USA/1428/SPECIAL/METAL'" Part of a communion set used at Toner Chapel. See also 83.5.2 thru 83.5.5.
