Home made device consists of a board 36 3/8" long x 6" wide x 7/8" thick; one end of this board is notched and has a piece of wood 15" high x 1 1/4" thick x 2 7/8" wid3e is located at this spot, this piece of wood is cut so there is a 1" wide piece missing for a linght of 7 1/2" from the top, a series of 3 holes are drilled in the 2 arms thus created, this piece is secured by a 1 1/2" high x 7: long x 3/8" thick board nailed across the end of the main goard and by a 9" long x 2" wide x 1" thickboard angled from it to the main noard and secured by nails; 9 1/2" from other end of the main board is a hole in which is inserted a board 20" high x 1 1/4" thick x 2 3/4" wide, this piece has been worked so there is a 1 1/4" wide gap 5 1/4" long missing from the center of the board at the top, this piece is secured by an angled piece 14 3/4" long x 1 2/8" wide x 1/2" thick; the last section is a bord 47 1/4" long x 1" thick x 1 5/8" at widest pointm tapered on both ends located between openings of the 2 upright boards, secured in place by one bolt and nut.
Remarks: according to donor was used by her uncle prior to planting to lay out straight lines although have not been able to figure out exactly how it worked.Collection
