The Paul Cross award is given to one basketball player per year at Shelbyville High School. The award was established by Rev. & Mrs. Cross as a tribute to their son who was the first Shelby County boy killed in WW I. The 1923-1924 medal ceremony was the first time that Mrs. Cross was present to make the award. According to donor it was very emotional for all involved. The 1923-1924 team was the first SHS basketball team to go as far as the Sweet Sixteen. They were beat in the first game of that contest.Collection
