Point, ProjectileDescription
Projectile Points. Hamilton Incurvate. These points are mainly characterized by their incurvate blades and isosceles triangular form. The blade tip and basal margins are needle-like in degree of refinement. These examples all show such characteristics. A: has a straight base. B: has a slightly concave base.
C: has an excurvate base which is a variation of this type. These are true arrowheads and have been found both as cause of death and as offerings in burials. It has been suggested that their shape is related to their function as a lethal weapon in warfare (Justice, p.229). Hamilton Incurvate points are diagnostic of the Late Woodland Hamilton Culture.
