Name/Title
Point, ProjectileDescription
Projectile Points. Lake Erie Bifurcated Base. These Points are similar to Lecroy points. They are thin with straight to slightly expanding stems. The most characteristic feature is the shallow bifurcation in the base of the stem. The blades are generally triangular but vary greatly due to resharpening. Blade serration is common and is present in examples "C" & "E". "E" also appears to have been exposed to fire, possibly heat-treated during manufacture due to the pock mark on the blade. "A" seems to be a fairly pristine example with little or no resharpening. Lake Erie Bifurcated Base points are diagnostic of the Early Archaic Period.
