Point, Projectile

Name/Title

Point, Projectile

Description

Projectile Point - Karnak unstemmed/thick lanceolate form/flaking on this example appears to be rough rather than refined as is 1988.001.004/Color - dark red. Karnak points are diagnostic of the Green River subculture of the Late Archaic Period. Point Found in Collection on a board with a note saying that it was found in Shelby County and donated by M/M Harry C. Morrison. Karnak unstemmed points were used as preforms for Karnak stemmed points as well as for tools themselves. This point appears to show that the stem was beginning to be worked down.
