Press, EmbossingDescription
Among the clerical objects from the Fountaintown Tuesday Club. A press used for embossing a seal on local documents. The seal is comprised of two circles. The outer circle has "Indiana" across the top along with six stars, three on each side of the word. At the bottom is "Shelby County Seal." The inner circle has the words "Commissioner's Board" and a decorative emblem. The object is made of heavy iron with a lever that when pushed down presses two circular seals together. The body of the press is fashioned in the form of a lion head. The top seal appears to come out of the lion's open mouth when the lever is pushed down.Collection
