Has iron round base which has extensions on 3 sides for wood legs, between 2 of the legs there is a pouring spout cast in the iron base; vertical extension from base is a threaded rod and over the rod is a heavy iron plunger like device and on top of the plunger is a metal handle that turns with the threads to apply pressure on the plunger; has a perforated inside liner that held the lard to be pressed and also acted as a strainer; outside piece of metal contained the pressed lard so it would flow from the spout.
Marks: cast onto surface of plunger and arranged in a circle is "Manufactured/By/P.Smith Bro & Co/Sidney,O" also is "Rayner's Pat d Oct 17"
