B & W print (15 1/4" x 11" visible under the mat); made of paper, glass, and wood; image depicts 3 story frame structure on stone foundations by a dam; windows are 6 over 6 sash some windows open and appears to be human form in middle window 2nd story of downstream side, has pitched roof some what salt box style, single attic window on gable and appears to be a beam extending from gable end; behind building are 2 weather beaten structures; water flowing over dam. Natural brown wood frame.
According to donor, this is the Flat Rock Cave mill and dam built about 1850 by William Bone & Son; Andrew J.Monroe bought the property in 1893 and ran the mill until 1922 when it was sold to C.C. Shipp of Indianapolis. Donor says photo was made by Zerilla Kimberlin before the 1913 flood; however, image probably made after the flood since the mill wheel is gone.Collection
