SN 9/18/20: This image is dated to 1951. The grassplots in the corners of the Square were removed in 51. These were originally installed in 1906. Pedestrian islands were also constructed at the four entrances of the Square. (McFadden, 319) Further, Smith Department Store, in the Exchange Building, operated from 1946-1952 when it changed its name to Cahn-Smith Dept. Store.Collection
