item has a square wooden ; handle approximately 57" long; one end of the handle has been tapered to attach a wooden shaped piece; this piece is somewhat cylindrical and is attached to handle with a wooden peg; the middle of the cylinder has been carved out in a "V" shape; the remainder of the piece has been hollowed out so that the end is open; a 1 1/2" leather band has been nailed to the piece about 2" from open end; covering carved hole in the "V" is a leather tongue which is mailed to the wood below the leather band; leather tongue has a small "D" shaped wooden piece nailed to it.
