Note included with the quilt is written in ink on lined notebook paper: "Manerva Lucas Rafferty made this quilt and quilted it in her latter days, I judge being sixty or more. At her death it was given to my mother, Belle Bennett and she used it a little. I think the quilting is excellent. Fine needlework was one of her several accomplishments.
