Red and white hand-pieced, hand-tied quilt / comforter.Use
by the Rafferty-Bennett-Kemper family.Context
Note included with the quilt is written in ink on lined notebook paper: "Manerva Lucas Rafferty made this quilt and quilted it in her latter days, I judge being sixty or more. At her death it was given to my mother, Belle Bennett and she used it a little. I think the quilting is excellent. Fine needlework was one of her several accomplishments. Made I judge around 1895 or 1900. Mazie B. Kemper"
