Name/Title
Robe, LapDescription
Lap robe made of wool. Underside is a solid dark color, sort of charcoal gray. Hem or border is a brownish cloth. Top is done in red gold, browns, some black. Colors appear to run in bands with other colors in that band added as a highlight. Two edges and the middle have a red band with gold highlights in a sort of floral pattern. Lap robes were used in open buggies to keep people warm. Donor said that her father used this one in the St. Louis, Missouri area around 1890.Collection
