From the Bridal Exhibition guide:
March 22, 1947 stands out to most Shelbyville residents as the day the high school basketball team State Championship. For one local resident however, the day stands out as the day she said, "I Do" to her sweetheart. Miss Marilyn Elizabeth Wendelboe wore this dress while marrying Robert Eugene Phares on that cool spring day. Unfortunately, more than a few guests decided to skip her big day and go to the game instead. Mrs. Phares recalls how even her organist and soloist skipped the nuptials for the big game. After the honeymoon, the couple returned to Shelbyville where the bride worked in the office of the Shelbyville Desk Company. Mr. Phares worked in Indianapolis for the New York Central Railroad maintenance shop.
