Donation, 11/13/1983. Used by J. T. Murphy. Pocket notebook used as advertising item by the Ruhm's Phosphate and Chemical Co., of Columbia, Tenn. Front cover is printed in orange, yellow and black. Front cover has anthropomorphised sack of Ruhm's Phosphate Rock by a straw hat on one corner of bag. Face in center, arms at sides holding crops, legs attached to the bottom. Notebook consists of blank lined pages and testimonial advertising about the effectiveness of Ruhm's Phosphate. Bound by two staples. Donor left note with this item stating: "J. T. Murphy promoted the use of phosphate in Shelby Co. during the 40's. His activity was based more on love of the land than finanaces.
