Description

Black leather; 2 bags connected by leather strap; each pouch has 6-1/2 flap w/strap and buckle closure; each pouch has a 9-1/2 carrying handle at the top; backstrap is one piece of leather but has been cut in manufacturing so has tapering slot. Object given to donor's father when he was a minister at Vincennes in the 1930's; donor's father was told saddlebags had been used by an early Methodist Circuit Rider--no other data; according to donor circuit riders used one pouch for personal belongings, other pouch to carry books the church wanted sold; see also 1985.019.002 and 1985.019.003.
