Description

Bayonet has black metal blade, probbly steel, there is a 12" long blood groove on each side of blade; hilt is iron and top has a hole for fitting over muzzle of rifle; handle has wood grips riveted in place, base of handle has slot and spring action release for quick attachment and release from rifle; butt of handle has a downward extension; sheath is all metal construction, made of sheet iron, tip terminates in a flattened ball shape, top of sheath has metal ring secured by a screw and opposite side a screw, is rectangular opening where probably attached to belt. Blade stamped near hilt with a circle and 3 semi-circles around the circle, immediately to right is an arrow with an "M" on the shaft, stamped onbutt is S/N "DJ ? 95698" Bayonet is 1988.023.001A Sheath is 1988.023.001B
